THE ALUMINAIRE HOUSE
ABOUT US
The Aluminaire House Foundation is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) Corporation charged with the care of the Aluminaire House. Although the Foundation has existed for only three years, Michael Schwarting and Frances Campani, two Board members have been involved with saving the House since 1987 when it was threatened by demolition. They organized the deconstruction, moving and reconstruction of the House at the NYIT Central Islip Campus with architecture students until that Campus closed in 2004. Compete on the outside but incomplete on the inside, they then oversaw the dismantling and storage of the House and have been seeking yet another home.
Kenneth Frampton, the Ware Professor of Architecture at Columbia University and internationally known historian and architectural critic, also serves on the Board. The Foundation is dedicated to establishing an appropriate site, assisting in the rebuilding and assuring that the House will be open to the public to be able to appreciate the significance of the critical piece of Modern American architecture.
